Resurrection Reality!

October 30th, 2007

The Spirit-flesh conflict in Paul has to do not with an internal conflict in one’s soul, but with the people of God living the life of the future in a world where the flesh is still very active.

- Gordon Fee, Paul, the Spirit, and the People of God, pg.126

As we have received from this weekend’s conference, let’s now fight to live our lives this week in the truth of Christ’s life, death and resurrection!

It’s all about relationship

October 14th, 2007

connection

No matter how much you know about the Bible,
no matter how much you discipline yourself,
no matter how hard you try to serve and please God,
if you are not properly related to the Spirit of God,
the Christian life will not work for you.

That’s because the Christian life is not a ritual
or a set of teachings but a relationship with God
through his Holy Spirit.

– Robert Heidler, Experiencing the Spirit

The Shema+: Love God! Love others!

July 31st, 2007

From Deut 6:4-9 and Jesus rendition from Luke 10:27

shema
Listen Agape Campus Fellowship: The LORD is our God– God is our only idol. And you must love the LORD your God with all your passion and all your personality and thoughts and all your energy. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts right now. Repeat them over and over to your small group. Talk about them when you’re at home and when you’re on the road, when you’re going to bed and when you get up. Write them on your palms and wear them on your foreheads to remind you about this. Write them on your bedroom and apartment doors so you’ll see them at every moment.. And think about others at least as much as you think about yourself.

..when neccessary, use words.

”Proclaim the good news at all times — when necessary use words.”

- St. Francis of Assisi, paraphrased

…who rules?

March 31st, 2007

If you live without a vision of the glory of God filling the whole earth, you are in danger of serving your own dreams of greatness as you wait to do the next thing. God tells you decision making starts with a passion for God’s glory in the nations and then asks “Where shall I serve you?”

If you have this passion, you are one of the most dangerous people on the planet. The world no longer rules your heart. You are no longer seduced by getting and gaining, but devoted to spreading and proclaiming the glory of God in the nations.

-Floyd McClung

Through You the blind will see
Through You the mute will sing
Through You the dead will rise
Through You our hearts will praise
Through You the darkness flees
Through You my heart screams I am free
I am free

-Newsboys, “I Am Free”

Psalm 119:145-152

March 5th, 2007
pray

I call with all my heart; answer me, LORD,
and I will obey your decrees.
I call out to you; save me
and I will keep your statutes.
I rise before dawn and cry for help;
I have put my hope in your word.
My eyes stay open through the watches of the night,
that I may meditate on your promises.
Hear my voice in accordance with your love;
preserve my life, LORD, according to your laws.
Those who devise wicked schemes are near,
but they are far from your law.
Yet you are near, LORD,
and all your commands are true.
Long ago I learned from your statutes
that you established them to last forever.
