Jesus for President?!?

October 7th, 2008

This Thursday, we will be hosting a lecture and interactive response time with Dr. Bruce Douglass, Professor and Political Theory Field Chair, Department of Government, Georgetown University. The lecture is titled: Jesus for President?  Faith and Politics: Then and Now.  It will be held at the Media & Public Affairs (MPA) Bldg 310 @ 7:30pm.

“Jesus for President?” This would be interesting and one may wonder what that would be like in our contemporary culture. Yet at the same time one wonders if that is even a legitimate question or thought for Christians living and interacting in this American culture. Throughout history faith and politics have always been on the forefront of governance and life, and in particularly in U.S. history, the tension, debate, and personal feelings run high and wide among us.  From party lines, to religious dialogue, to separation, and even to the Supreme Court, faith and politics are interesting partners in life. With the upcoming presidential elections and the growing thoughts on the role of government and the influence of faith, Dr. Bruce Douglass will be sharing on the history and the current trends and thoughts in this area.
